Why Do It Yourself?

So, I have started making my first wine. My husband, Jay, has been doing it for years and I have been lucky enough to be the beneficiary of his hobby. But now I am striking out on my own (well, with a lot of help from him).

Making wine is a great hobby for a husband to have. Though at times I feel I am a "wine widow" unlike a "football widow" I get something out of the deal to help me with my mourning. Now I am deciding to join him in this crazy hobby to see what I can do. The end goal is to have a wine to submit for the amateur wine making competition that Jay enters, and wins medals in, each year. It would be great to have a medal to call my own.

So far, so good. Nothing has exploded and we have not killed eachother while he has been tutoring me. I am only in the second fermentation and still have a ways to go.
I chose a Australian White Blend and sure do hope they grow good grapes down under.

More to come as the adventure continues.

Salut,

Margot
